Cape Lookout Camping Adventure

We took Celia with us to Cape Lookout for our Ward Campout this weekend.  This was her first experience camping.  When I first asked her if she wanted to go camping she was hesitant because she thought we were going to be sleeping in the mountains with the animals.  After I showed her the camper she felt a little better.  She agreed to go but only for one night! Although, we couldn't convince her that s'mores really would taste good.

Tillamook Cheese Factory

After camping we headed to the Tillamook Cheese Factory.  Celia liked watching the cheese get packaged.  We tasted delicious samples of cheeses and then enjoyed some very large ice cream cones.  It was great fun to have the Nelsons, Baxters and the Barkers, and of course Celia, with us.

Baby Annie

Evelyn has found a best friend!  It's Baby Annie.  These two have been inseparable recently.  Evelyn is a good little "mommy" to Baby Annie.  She feeds her (even had a few chocolate chips today), lets her rest and carries her around everywhere!

She's Here

Celia, our Chinese student arrived today!  We are thrilled.  Yep, I am the only host "mom" who cried when they met their student.  Not because I was disappointed but because she is so darn adorable and we've awaited her arrival for so long.  I recognized her as soon as she walked in the door and we were so excited to hug her and meet her.  She is an absolute gem.  She speaks very little English but we've managed just fine.  Today we got to spend the day with her (other days she will be mostly at school).  We had lunch, corn dog and grapes, at her request.  Then we painted while Evelyn took a nap.  We went on a walk to New Seasons and through Progress Ridge.  We met a woman who speaks Chinese on our walk and they visited for a little while.  Silifina watched a Taylor Swift movie with the girls while I made "noodles" for dinner.  After dinner we did family homework and she showered.  Bless her heart she is exhausted and is now sound asleep.  I just can't help but love this sweet girl who is 15 and has traveled across the road to be in America.  We have already learned so much from her.  She is an only child. Both parents are doctors.  She spends 11 hours at school and 3 hours on homework when she is home. She hopes to be a "heart doctor" one day.  She is completely smitten with the younger girls.  We feel so blessed to have her in our home.

Puzeys Camping

We had a blast camping with the Puzey family this weekend.  It was so great to be together with Tommy and Steph, Phil and Tawny and Anna and Dallin and Jake and Jen and Mom and Dad and of course all the cousins.
